Content with Content?
I’m mulling over a couple of ideas to add more content to FTJ. Currently, I don’t think there is much to do on the site other than the dating concept and the forums.
One thing I would like to do is add a Links section on the site where users can submit cool/fun/whatever links to other sites/videos/blogs etc. Members will be able to rate the links, pushing lowest rated links down, highest rated to the top, as a sort of quality control (mainly Digg.com style). I’ll probably separate them into categories and add some other small touches.
I think at the very least, this will give people more content and something else to do on the site. What do you guys think? Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Seems reasonable

Giving users (other than the forum regs) a reason to come back more often is always a good thing. Updated content like this will build interest in coming back often to check out what there is to watch/read/ or find. There definately needs to be more than just rating and forums because not everyone is into that. The site is not big enough/active enough in all areas of the country for people to use it strickly as a dating site. The fact that it’s free will help that aspect of the site catch on because all of the major dating sites are free.
I would push the free dating aspect of the site the hardest, when advertising/marketing and allow the other features to be reason for users to frequent the site often.

I agree, the majority of the people that have been familiar with FTJ in the past loved the concept, but the fact that it wasn’t free rendered it harder to commit. Now that it’s free, it’s something you should be highlighting.
I do enjoy your idea regarding the link content. Maybe a ‘Groups’ concept may work. Fresh idea’s are the only thing that will set you apart, and nowadays it’s hard to be original.

As long as the links expire from the front page after a while, and WFI is at the top at all times, it sounds like a fantabulous idea MISTER.

Does digg have an rss feed? I am on there all the time and most likely wouldn’t be visiting to check out news submissions. I would say that if Digg has an RSS feed maybe put that on there with some extensibility to save stories in your FTJ profile and then friends of yours could see new stories that you’ve dugg.
enjoy…

how about a way to search local people who are online instead of having to scroll through some 500 profiles to try to find local people, this would make it a lot easier, but other than that this is a great web site

You can go to the search page and enter any criteria you would like (including online)… http://www.facethejury.com/searchInfo.asp

How about put a “Custom Text Box” or able to use “tags” for the text on my favorites list
